Leigh Bowen was project architect for this Low Carbon terrace of 2 bedroom flats in the Black Country, West Midlands for Accord Housing Association. The scheme was completed in 18 months and featured a complete green roof; a woodchip boiler supplying all of the schemes heating and hot water; thermal mass construction; a communal room and passive stack heat recovery ventilation system as well as other green specification measures as featured on all of Leigh’s portfolio projects. Situated on a urban infill site the scheme utilised solar gain by including sunspaces on a tight site and the scheme is a catalyst for the clients wider agenda of sustainable, carbon neutral social housing.
